I know the Pythian Castle (1451 E. Pythian St.) can't open to the public right now (thanks to the City). However, it is a one-of-a-kind hidden Springfield gem built in 1913 as an orphanage. It is massive and has an interesting history. Hopefully, it will be open for tours again soon. Until then, drive by and take a look. I took the photo above when our office took a tour a few years ago.

I've always thought this place looked wonderfully creepy. I've never been inside it, so I wish the city would allow tours again!
It is said to be haunted also -- so it's right up your alley!
Why does the city have it shut down?
I'm out of the loop on this one.
what! that's gorgeous!! I need to go inside. I like haunties.
How cool! I've driven up to it before, but I had no idea it was built as an orphanage! Veeeeeeeeery interesting. That definitely ups its haunt factor.
